At the beginning of the 19th century, piano making in England underwent a period of significant innovations and stylistic developments. One of the most distinctive and impressive instruments of this era was the Cabinet Piano, a design that gained increasing popularity in the first half of the 19th century and reached its peak in the 1820s and 1830s. A piano by the firm John Broadwood and Sons, dating from around 1820, has been acquired for the collection and is now available online.
