Erard Frères 1802 – Fortepiano from the circle of Emperor Napoleon and Empress Joséphine

The history of the fortepiano made by Erard Frères in 1802 could finally be completed after a long research. The instrument belonged to Anne Angélique de Mackau. She was a court lady of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763 – 1814), the wife of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821). Further research is ongoing.
